✦ REEL SOUTH CINEMA
Help us make more room at the movies.
A NONPROFIT FILM ARTS ORGANIZATION BASED IN HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA
WORKING ACROSS NORTH ALABAMA AND THE SOUTH
Reel South Cinema works to remove barriers between Southern people and cinema, from helping audiences find and experience more films to helping filmmakers find the resources and support they need to get their work onto a screen.
We’re building that work here in Huntsville and North Alabama while connecting with filmmakers, audiences, organizations, and resources throughout the South.

Your support helps us grow what we’re already doing and gives us room to fill the gaps we find along the way!

Reel South Cinema is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Donations can help us bring films to local audiences, keep the Reel South Film Guide and access resources growing, support Hauntsville Film Fest and community programming, work directly with filmmakers, develop educational resources, and begin building new ways to make cinema more accessible for audiences and filmmakers.
Some of what comes next is still taking shape. That’s intentional. We want to listen first, learn where the barriers actually are, work with people who are already doing good work, and build where something is genuinely missing.
Every contribution gives us a little more room to do that.
You can help without writing a check.
Reel South isn’t meant to be built by one person or one organization. Sometimes the thing somebody needs already exists—they just need to know where to find it.
If you have a resource, skill, connection, idea, or a little time to give, that can be part of this work too.

Know about a filmmaker resource we should know about? A grant? Equipment access? An affordable venue? An accessibility resource? A great local organization? Someone who knows how to solve a problem we’ve been trying to solve?
Tell us.
We don’t need to own every resource. We want to make good ones easier to find!

Filmmakers, theaters, festivals, libraries, schools, artists, educators, disability organizations, community groups, local businesses: we want to know our neighbors.
If your work overlaps with ours, or you have an idea for something we could do together, we’d love to hear it!

As Reel South grows, so will the ways people can get involved.
That might mean helping with a screening, researching accessibility information, sharing professional skills, contributing to filmmaker resources, beta testing something we’re building, or helping us reach people we haven’t reached yet.

Follow along for screenings, Film Guide updates, new resources, opportunities to get involved, and whatever we’re building next.
And if you know somebody who cares about movies, Southern storytellers, or making film culture a little easier to get into, send them our way!
Things get reel down South.
Help us create more chain reactions.
A person finds a movie they didn’t know was playing. A filmmaker finds the editor they needed. Someone learns which theater has captions. A kid sees a kind of movie they’ve never encountered before. A stalled film gets one step closer to finished.
Reel South Cinema won’t always be the main feature. Sometimes we’re the usher pointing the way.
The point isn’t for Reel South to get credit for every chain reaction. The point is to create more of them!
